Iraqi Embassy Legalization for Commercial Documents
The US Arab Chamber of Commerce assists U.S. exporters and corporations to expedite the legalization process and obtain the required authentications in a timely manner. Commercial export Documents destined for use in Iraq must be:
- Original document signed by a company official and notarized (PDF not accepted).
- Certified from the Secretary of the State where notarization occurred.
- Authenticated by the US Department of State in Washington D.C.
- Legalized by the Iraqi Embassy in Washington DC.
Companies must complete steps 1 and 2 before shipping the documents to US Arab Chamber of Commerce to expedite completion of steps 3, and 4.
Legalize Certificate of Origin and/or Commercial Invoice
A legalized Certificate of Origin is an obligatory requirement to complete an export process to Iraq, while legalizing a Commercial Invoice is optional, in case it is a contractual requirement between the exporter and the importer.

- The Certificate must include the manufacturer (exporter) contact information in the United States such as name, address, telephone and fax number.
- Likewise, it must include the importer contact information in Iraq such as name, address, telephone and fax number.
- If the certificate is consisting of multiple pages, it must be numerated. For example: (page 1 of 3, page 2 of 3, page 3 of 3). Otherwise, the embassy will consider every page as single certificate and charge you $160.00 per page.
- The exported product must be manufactured in the United States.
- In case of exporting food or drugs, you must include a certified Health Certificate. Additionally, If the importer is:
A Private Agency: the exporter must include all the following certificates
- A copy of the Bill of Lading.
- A copy of the Inspection Certificate.
- A copy of the Insurance Certificate.
An Iraqi governmental Agency : the exporter must include only one of the previously mentioned certificate 1, 2, or 3.

Legalization of other types of Commercial Export Certificates
US Arab Chamber of Commerce legalizes other commercial export documents and certificates from the Embassy of Egypt in Washington D.C. such as Packing Lists, Insurance Certificates, Halal Certificates, Export Certificates, Radiation Certificates, Dangerous Goods Certificates, Inspection Certificates, Bill of Lading, Airway Bills, Iraqi Stock Exchange certificate ISX, Pro Forma Certificates, Temporary Shipment Certificates, Ingredient Certificates, and ISO Certificates.
The chamber will authenticate it from the US Department of State, and legalize it by the Iraqi Embassy in Washington DC. The process and fees for these documents are similar to the one previously listed above for commercial invoices. (A "G-Account" is usually assigned to companies with a high volume of certifications)
